Keep Your Headsets Disinfected During The Corona Virus Epidemic

Without us even realizing, our wireless or wired headsets have always been a brilliant way of picking up diseases, especially the viral ones. With multiple incidences of outbreaks of skin and eye infection due to the sharing of headsets, an easy way of disinfecting these gadgets is highly in demand.

Wireless or wired, headsets are always in contact against our major portals of infection, which are the eyes, nose, and mouth. With most of the world getting into isolation due to the recent outbreak of Covid-19, people are getting more inclined towards using wireless headsets to work remotely. What they don’t know is that this very gadget can turn out to be the most dangerous virus carrier if not cleaned and disinfected properly.

Most of the headsets and their controllers can be cleaned if rubbed off thoroughly with antibacterial wipes. The areas that are likely to be touched the most should be rubbed off with additional attention. For example, the top and bottom area of the eyepiece that you hold while wearing or taking off the headsets. Avoid usage of any harsh chemicals for the lenses. A regular glass cleaning wipe can do the job for them. Never ever put your headsets under direct sunlight to dry. As tempting as it may seem, it will cause irretrievable damage to your headset’s lenses.

The foam and the other soft areas are the biggest ports for infection. The best option is to spend a little extra and get yourself some replaceable pads. It is not as hard to keep your VR equipment clean as it may seem to be for the first couple of times though it may seem a bit overwhelming. Use of harsh chemicals where your eyes or another sensitive face area would touch soon or the fear of ripped fabrics are just some of the many apprehensions that may stop you from taking this initiative. But with a pandemic like Covid-19, it is better being safe than sorry.
