The results of Valve's latest SteamVR survey are now live, and new numbers show the amazing increase in Oculus installations. Quest 2 is currently the most widely used VR headset on the SteamVR platform.
Facebook released the Oculus Quest 2 title in October 2020. In its short five-month availability, Quest 2 gave Oculus a huge advantage by overshadowing the installation base of all other best VR headsets on the market and hearing aids for sale.
According to Valve, Quest 2 owners account for 22.91% of all SteamVR users, and another 21.58% use Rift S. Oculus headsets also own 13.49% more with the original Rift headset and the addition of Quest headsets. In total, Oculus accounts for 57.98% of all VR headsets used on the Valve platform.
HTC has the second-largest installation base, with 17.24% of SteamVR users using HTC headsets. HTC Vive has the largest share of the HTC market, with 13.05% SteamVR users. 2.15% of SteamVR users are using Vive Pro, 1.04% of Cosmos, and 1% of Cosmos Elite. From these numbers, it's clear that Oculus is kicking HTC's butt in this industry.
With only one VR headset on the market, Valve ranks third with 16% of the market. With less than 0.5% of SteamVR users using the Pimax headsets, the Pimax 5K Plus, 8K, and Artisan are hardly any trace on the radar.
