Marshall Introduces The New Mode II Wireless Earbuds

Marshall announced the $ 179 Marshall Mode II, the first true wireless noise-cancelling headset. In some quick tests, the users were very fond of the sound. Here's a quick overview of it.

Mode II gives you five hours of wireless playtime and comes with a slim charging case that offers you an additional 20 hours of charge. The case for these earbuds itself can be charged wirelessly or via USB-C. The Marshall rubber case is significantly smaller and lighter than the $ 229 Sony WF-1000XM3, and the headphones are half the size of the Sony. However, the housing cover feels a bit weaker than the Sony.

The headphones use Bluetooth 5.1, and Marshall has an easy-to-use iPhone and Android app. Mode II is IPX4 waterproof (resistant to splashing water from all directions) and comes with four different sets of ear tips.

Marshall Mode II is available for pre-order on marshallheadphones.com and will go on sale on March 8. The headphones cost £ 159 in the UK, and pricing and availability in Australia are yet to be known but are expected to cost around $ 300.

While the users preferred to use Comply tips with in-ear models, they found that the largest silicone tips in the box ensure a secure and comfortable fit even in large openings. Unlike the relatively bulky Sony 1000XM3, it's easy to forget you're using a Marshall, but with maximum noise reduction, Sony offers an ink-like level of silence compared to the softer Marshall version. To protect the mod, the users never felt that users' heads were empty or the sound was turned off.

The company calls its default EQ "Marshall," and it comes as no surprise that it's rock-friendly. The audio quality was excellent without any adjustments - the mod offers some boost or sharpness in the treble, but it's not bright or hard to hear. In fact, a sense of balance was discovered: the vocals were easy to decode, the guitars grunted as they should, and the bass was strong. If you want to increase the bass or lower the treble, you can do so via the app.

In terms of use, tapping the right earbud stops, and the music starts, two taps bounce, and three taps bounce back. Double-tapping the left earbud switches between "transparent mode" and noise reduction. Unlike Sony, only on or off, no level of customization. This means that you have to use the phone to control the volume. Although the original software version allows you to use the voice assistant, it does not appear to work with the user-tested firmware version (26.3.0). The users turned to Marshall for an explanation.

As for the cons, the users have had some trouble switching between headsets and the occasional crash with the LG V60 on Android 10, which was especially noticeable in calls. The problems ended when the users updated their phones to Android 11. Your experience may be different based on various factors.

Overall, the users find the Marshall Mode II a good headset, and its compact size, low profile, and powerful sound will be found by many fans.
