2- Things required for a corded Avaya headset Solution.
You will need these two items to have a corded commercial-grade Avaya headset solution; one is headset and other either an amplifier or connects cable. By using a quick-disconnect connection, all of these can be joined together.
Quick Disconnect
Firstly it is important to understand the commercial-grade Avaya headsets is the headset cable terminates in what the industry calls a “quick disconnect” connection. You can leave your headset active all the time and quickly disconnect from the Amplifier or direct cable when you are moving away from your desk.
Amplifiers and Direct connect Cables
In accordance with the model of your Avaya phone, you would need to have an amplifier or direct connect cable to connect the headset. You can choose from a range of different options in our Avaya headset according to the compatible that suits you the most. With a modular clip, Amplifier and cable can be terminated on one end, which gets plugged into your Avaya phone.
Previously an amplifier was essential for most of the Avaya telephones when using headsets. Therefore Avaya worked with Plantronics to manufacture many of their phones with a built-in amplifier into Avaya telephone. Thus this eradicated the use of an amplifier and allowed a less expensive direct connect cable to be used with standard H-series headsets. An amplifier provides complete volume control for the speaker and microphone, which is thus lost when using direct connect a cable.
3- Working of corded headsets with your Avaya telephone:
The older versions of Avaya phones will have to use a headset and Amplifier when connecting a corded headset. Avaya has worked with Plantronics to get an Amplifier built into the Phone, thus allowing a direct-connect cable and headset to be an option.
The typical setup for using Amplifier:
When using any H-Series headset and Amplifier, the Amplifier will plug into the handset port on your Phone. Every time you get a call, you have to remove the handset and return it to the cradle when you are done with the call. You will have to choose from a wide variety of headsets ranging from noise-canceling models used for a louder environment and voice-tube for a quiet environment.
Typical Setup Using Direct-Connect Cable:
You can use any H-series headset with an Avaya Direct-connect cable. The cable will simply get the plug into the headset port, and you have to simply press a ringing line to answer and headset button to disconnect the call. The other advantage of using a cable over an amplifier is the cost. A cable will cost about $28.50, whereas $72 for the Amplifier. The disadvantage of using Direct-Connect cable is that it works on compatible phones, and you cannot control your voice volume. If you are soft-spoken, then your caller will have difficulty in hearing you.
4 – Choose Wireless Headsets Options for Avaya Phones.
You can choose from a variety of wireless headsets to choose from your Avaya phone. They can be chosen between different styles and functionality. A commercial-grade wireless headset solution is purchased as a complete system with all of these included like a headset, Based/charger, and A/C Power Adapter. You may need to buy a handset lifter or Electronic Hookswitch Cable (EHS) optionally to answer and hang up calls distantly. The base/charger controls compatibility and has different functions such as speaker volume, microphone volume, and also acts as a charger for the headset when not in use. The notifications for the power, charging, and other features can be notified by the LED lights on the base.
Note: Using newer models of wireless headsets (W700 & CS500 series) Avaya phones with an RJ9 headset jack, may you need to have a compatibility setting under the headset base adjusted to a different letter (other than default “A”).
5 –Wireless Headsets-Remote Answer and Hang-Up
Wireless units give you excellent freedom to enjoy, whereas the productivity is greatly increased by adding EHS cable or handset lifter, allowing you to answer and hang up remotely. They both generate a beep or ringing in your headset to alert you about the call. You can simply take the call by pressing the Call Control Button on your headset. The ringing line is answered by the Phone as you begin talking. To disconnect or finish the call simply you press Call Control button again. You have to refer back to your Phone to perform any function, such as transferring a call and dial or redial. Most phones support handset lifter, which simply lowers and raises your telephone’s handset, simulates you to answer a call. Newer phones are integrated with EHS, which electronically establishes calls on them without any physical movement of your handset. Your productivity is highly increased by answering remotely. You can take your desk work and conversation with you wherever you go. You can answer the calls even that are present in your voice mail.
